It is possible to walk directly from the cottage into the spruce forest at the back of the house, follow under the telegraph wires until the houses at East Tulchan. Up along the one track road and along the top of the golf course back home. A good 5km without getting in the car. You'll need wellies - just ask.
Keillour Forest is just around the corner and offers good circular walks/biking and picnic areas. Park in the small carpark and cross the road for the best walks.
